U.S. Navy Veteran - Attended submarine school, and trained as a submarine sonar operator. It was really cool. I got to hear what whales and shrimp sound like!
Assigned aboard USS Von Steuben SSBN 632, in mid-1981, while in dry-dock in Newport News, VA
A George Washington class ballistic missile submarine, built in the early 60's with twin nuclear reactors, she was capable of deploying 16 missiles, each with 10 MIRV warheads. With submerged speeds in excess of 10 kts, and maximum depths in excess of 1000 feet, she could hide in the vastness of the oceans with great stealth fo9r months at a time without surfacing. She is now decommissioned after many years of faithful service as a nuclear deterrent.
Medical problems shortened my service aboard in early 1982 and regrettably, I was unable to qualify for my Dolphins.
C.O.B. Newhouse, Thank you for all you did for me. I will forever be grateful. Also, I want to apologize to a roommate I had onshore for things I said...

Medical
Thanks for visiting USResolve.org. It has taken over 2 years of work to get
this far, with most of the design and coding prior to my accident in the fall of '01. I can't work like I used
to because of my disabilities, only a few half-hour stints a day if I'm lucky, due to the chronic pain.
Most days, I don't get to work on the site at all, I am just not up to it.
I am currently in the process of applying for disability and it's one
of the most frustrating, aggravating things in the whole world. It's as
if it's designed for you to fail and fall through the cracks. There
are no financial safety nets if you can't work. There is no temporary
financial assistance if you hadn't chosen long term disability insurance,
which most cant afford. You can't collect
unemployment because you have to be able to, or be ready to work.
Without family, an injured person such as myself, would be literally on
the street.
Thank God for my family, for without them, I'd be on the street, another
statistic of the great American system. I owe them my deepest debt of
gratitude, and my never-ending love.
Where possible, I've linked to medical pages with additional information, such
as for bulging disks.
